İ hope İ have explained myself well enough. Apr 01, 2012 Ean's going through the Traktor Preferences window and taking us on a tour of what the most critical, need-to-know settings are for anyone DJing with Traktor Pro 2. When a track is playing and you hold your hand over the jog wheel, without touching it, it moves/jogs the track playing. Is there a way to lower/remove the sensitivity so it only stops/scratches/jogs the track when you are touching the wheel?

- Hello all,Having just spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to create a thread on this forum, I’m even more incensed than I was when I came here. Grrrahh! I have, however, read the posting guidelines and will try to replace swear words with words like “piffling” and “counfounded”…My problem is either easily solved and I’m a numpty, or it’s very specific to my (ageing) setup and tricky/unsolvable.I have Traktor Pro 2.6.8 and a Hercules DJ Console MK2. I’m used to Virtual DJ 7, but stopped using it because my controller’s buttons would always control things I didn’t want them to for no explicable reason (e.g. Track Seek buttons would also set Filter to max/min instead of staying in the middle, despite not being mapped to those functions… infuriating!).Older versions of Virtual DJ work fine, but have severely limited functions by today’s standards (FX/interface/sampling). I want to be able to use my other MIDI inputs (e.g. Akai MPK49) to control other fancy FX too, and the old software just doesn’t cut it.The problem I have is with the Seek function in Traktor. One thing I didn’t know I liked about Virtual DJ is that even with my Neolithic jog wheels, it kinda sounds like vinyl when you scratch them back and forth. This means that although they’re not touch-sensitive, as long as the software is getting a signal from the jog (i.e. moving it back and forward in small motions), the track stops playing while you find your cue point.Traktor, on the other hand, goes mental…Pull/spin the jog back: track slows down instead of rewinding. This is just stupid and in 99% of cases not what the user wants to do.Push/spin the jog forward: track fast-forwards at light speedScratch the jog back and forth: Sounds like R2D2 with low batteries… certainly nothing like vinyl.Importing pre-programmed mappings for my controller doesn’t work, mapping it for myself doesn’t work.I’ve tried everything I can see in Traktor’s Controller Manager but nothing seems to work. Rotary sensitivity, rotary acceleration, direct/relative, even combinations of modifier conditions… and I don’t even know what they are!Does Traktor just not have the capability to scratch/find cue points (without a mouse) in a sensible way when you have old hardware? My jogs are basically redundant as it stands. They technically do what they’re supposed to but in such a ridiculously unhelpful way it renders them unusable.Have I missed something really simple? I’ve been hoping for a hidden button that switches it to “Sane” mode or something. Is there an madly convoluted way to have Traktor translate the jog MIDI signals as I want them to be interpreted? I may be an amateur but I am determined! Finally, to demonstrate what I want to achieve: when you play a track in Traktor (normal deck mode) and click the mouse on the waveform, then swipe the mouse left and right… that’s what I want my jogs to do!Thank you to anybody who has had the patience to read this and offer any guidance – I will bow down to you!EddieGetting Traktor to work with older hardware is truly one of the hardest things to do ever.
I can only recommend reading the traktor bible and possibly finding a solution in there. If you are not that tech geeky then Traktor might be too overwhelming, as it is hands down the most complicated DJ software. - Posts
